The "vanishing fog" is, as one may have guessed, a multi-purpose plot device. It allows for dropped characters to vanish from the narrative, gives an excuse for characters to be picked up again but be "different" via another mun’s interpretation, gives room for giving your character a soft-reset if you’re not happy with their development, and will also likely feature in some events.
On rare occasions, a cold fog can be seen spreading across parts of the Astorian forests, even the Tiyan, though it never creeps too close to the city. Rumor has it that the fog represents a doorway to the supernatural, and people have been known to vanish in its depths, never to be seen again. Those that do, often come back different. It is strongly advised that you avoid areas that have been overtaken by the fog until it recedes.
